I Think I'm Moving to the Side of Wanting more Articulation

i am a huge fan of McFarlane toys and what they do...their highly detailed figures are amazing
i am in no way dissing on them in any sorts...

but i used to be all about the sculpting, i didn't care if the damn figure moved cuz all i did was open the figure and throw em on the shelf

now i am getting bored with the same old poses and i want to pose them differently...but with MOST i can't change the damn pose at all...

i look back to i think series 22...the Viking Age...
IMO i feel that series is the best McFarlane has done in terms of pleasing both collectors (and it's my favorite and got me into TMP Figures)

i just wish we could pose some of these figures even just a little bit

The age old argument. I have to agree with you about the Viking line. I'd like to see a bit more articulation myself, but I always go back and wonder how many times I'd actually pose or re-pose my figs once I had them set up.

I don't know how many people here remember the incredible arguments there were about the style of articulation on the Samurai line.

I remember people actually amking diagrams and stuff about that. I think the main thins is how the articualtion can be hidden in a line. The Vikings were perfect for being able to conceal it and not affect the sculpt.

the big thing with articulation is it has to be done WELL.
which McF hasn't done for a Spawn line since Viking.

shit, if I can pose an arm differently, that's a plus...

I am in no way saying all McF should be like a ML toy, but some basic, WELL-PLANNED articulation would be nice.

would it have killed them to make ONE Conan articulated?

i had a real problem with the samurai line

the freakin god damn things would BREAK so easily
i got i think 3 figures from that line and they are all broken...in vital articulated spots

the only reason right now that i see mcf does any articulation at all is because it's easier to cut the figure up to cast and paint it...if they could make it one solid figure they might

i know McF toys isn't in the biz of making super articualted toys..they have always been about the sculpt but i would LOVE to see how they could incoporate Logical articulation in the figures

I have all the Samurai (minus the CC Lotus) and had no breakage at all...
and some of mine were acquired years after they were released(meaning they'd been in storage for years).
never had a prob.

I did break a Viking fig, but I was trying to pull off a leg, so... [img]redface.gif[/img]


I still think one of the best "normal" Spawn figs is Spawn 1.

I think the thing about Samurai was that it was a totally different style of artiulation. For some reason it freaked a lot of people out. Then again, it didn't take the world by storm.

it WAS very bizarre.
I've never seen the like before.

it worked well with the armour though.

Scorp Assassin is one of my fave McF's.
(or was it Jackal? I get them mixed up. not the crouching guy, anyway)

The pink hair in that line was a bit controverial too. I still need to get a magic marker and fix the hair on my fig.
